Ingredients Used
- Ground sausage:Â Â I use 1lb of ground sausage, but this recipe can easily be scaled up or down. You can also use ground turkey or ground pork. The taste will be slightly different, but it will still taste just as good!
- Cream cheese:Â Use your favorite brand but make sure there are no added sugars or cornstarch. Let it soften at room temperature before adding to the dip to get a nice smooth consistency.
- Can of diced tomatoes:Â This adds a nice tang, texture, and color to the dip.
- Spices:Cayenne pepper,black pepper,and salt.
- A little olive oil.
How To Make This Recipe
- Add a little olive oil to a large pan, then add the ground sausage. Break it apart as it browns. Add the cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt as it cooks.
- Once the sausage is fully cooked,if there is any excess liquid, drain it off. The brand of ground sausage I used barely had any liquid, but yours may have, depending on its brand.
- Put your pan back on the stove. Add cream cheese and diced tomatoes to the ground sausage mixture. I like to cut the cream cheese into large cubes before I add them. Do not drain the diced tomatoes.
- Stir until your cream cheese is smooth and fully incorporated. Taste for salt and adjust. I add a little more cayenne pepper here because I like mine spicy. Simmer on medium heat for a few minutes,so the flavors really meld together.
This recipe serves 8 and contains 3 net carbs per serving. Each serving is 2 full tablespoons.
Storing and Reheating
To store your spicy sausage dip, pour it into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for about 3 days.
You can also freeze any leftover spicy sausage dip. Store it in an airtight container and enjoy it within a month for optimal freshness.
To reheat, you can use a microwave or reheat it on the stove. I prefer using the stove because it retains some of the moisture. Using a microwave can dry it out a bit.
What Can I Eat This Recipe With?
