Tips When Making Crunch Wraps
- Use large tortillas. Burrito-size flour tortillas are easier to fold and hold more filling.
- Don’t overfill. Too much filling makes the wraps difficult to seal and more likely to fall apart.
Warm the tortillas first. - Soft tortillas fold much more easily than cold ones.
- Use the right layering order.
- Place the crunchy tostada between the warm filling and the cooler toppings to help preserve its texture.
- Cook seam-side down first. This helps seal the wrap before you flip it.
- Use medium heat. Cooking too quickly can burn the tortilla before the cheese melts.
- Serve fresh. Crunch wraps taste best straight from the skillet while the outside is crisp.

Healthier Air-Fried or Baked Wraps
- Air Fryer Methods: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
Fill each tortilla with cooked chicken or beef, shredded cheese, nacho cheese sauce if desired, and crushed nacho chips.
Fold each tortilla in half like a hot pocket and press the edges firmly to seal.
Lightly brush or spray both sides with oil.
Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
Air-fry for 6–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. - Oven Baked Method: Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Fill and fold the tortillas, pressing the edges closed.
Place the pockets seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Lightly brush both sides with oil or melted butter.
Bake for 6–9 minutes, flip carefully, then bake another 6–9 minutes until golden and crispy.
Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Questions and Answers
- Can I use shredded chicken instead of ground beef?
Absolutely! Rotisserie chicken, leftover roasted chicken, or freshly cooked shredded chicken all work wonderfully. Toss the chicken with taco seasoning and a little salsa or broth to keep it flavorful and moist. - What can I use instead of a tostada shell?
A large round tortilla chip, several sturdy tortilla chips, or a crisped small corn tortilla can provide that crunchy middle. A tostada shell gives the most consistent crunch we also prefer nacho cheese chips for taste. - How do I keep my crunch wrap from opening?
Avoid overfilling, warm the tortilla before folding, and make sure the edges overlap toward the center. Start cooking with the seam facing down to help it seal. - Can I make these without meat?
Yes! Seasoned black beans, refried beans, sautéed mushrooms, roasted vegetables, and extra cheese are delicious alternatives. - Can I reheat leftover crunch wraps?
For the crispiest results, reheat them in a skillet, air fryer, or oven until heated through. A microwave works in a pinch but will soften the tortilla.
