We’ve reached past the halfway mark of the year, the horror! Another year is going to pass by in the blink of an eye, so Aug is the perfect time to go out and try out as many things as possible before the year inevitably ends. There are many things to do in Aug, especially with National Day coming around, but there’s also an opportunity to get fit with the Snoopy Run, relax your mind with a sound bath, and much more.

1. Celebrate National Day (9 Aug)

Celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday on 9 Aug 2026. This year’s theme is ‘Go Beyond!’ with the National Day Parade being held at the National Stadium and not The Padang. I know I’ll definitely go the extra mile to secure good spots to watch the fireworks around the Kallang vicinity.

Besides celebrating on 9 Aug 2026, there are a bunch of good SG61 deals going around leading up to our little red dot’s 61st birthday. I’m a sucker for good deals, like any true Singaporean, so I’ll definitely be making the best of National Day deals to have an even better celebration.

2. I LOVE SG pop-up at WEAVE (30 Jul – 23 Aug)

Do you also have a penchant for soft toys as I do? From 30 Jul to 23 Aug 2026, celebrate SG61 at Resorts World Sentosa’s I LOVE SG pop-up, located in WEAVE. The pop-up features cute soft toys combined with an immersive experience. I particularly enjoyed how local delights like kaya toast, kopi, chilli crab and traditional kueh were made into super cute collectable soft toys for me to interact with. The food soft toys retail from S$23 onwards.

I was also immersed in their interactive live demonstrations where the plushies were being cooked in a make-believe cooking session. It was really funny seeing the cute soft toys being tossed up and down in a giant wok as if they were real ingredients. I reached RWS early for the 11am – 3pm live cooking session, but there is also another session from 4pm to 8pm.

3. Gardens by the Bay & Mediacorp National Day Concert (2 Aug)

We have come so far as a nation; why only celebrate National Day on 9 Aug 2026? Celebrate with this year’s Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert on 2 Aug 206. The concert returns with its theme of ‘Seeds of Tomorrow’, which I find apt to celebrate our growth, resilience and determination to realise dreams for our future.

I’ll definitely head down without eating dessert as there will be free treats for all. I’m excited to enjoy nostalgic old-school ice-cream, fluffy cotton candy and popcorn while settling down before the musical performance. After getting my sweet treats, I’m particularly looking forward to the exhilarating musical performances by Singapore’s iconic artistes, including Olivia Ong, Sherman Zhuo, Benjamin Kheng, Hady Mirza, Sharon Shobana and more, for an unforgettable celebration.

4. Gong & Sound Bath at ArtScience Museum

If you’re having a quarter-life crisis like I am, Marina Bay Sands has newly introduced The Earth Series, where there will be a gong and sound bath experience to ease your mind, body and soul. It will be held beneath the iconic Rain Oculus at ArtScience Museum, with the gentle sound of the water accompanying the experience. In this evening of wellness and restoration, I’ll immerse myself in the tones and frequencies of the gong flowing through the space to relax and come out of the experience a renewed and calmer person.

There will also be silent disco headphones for me to vibe inwardly while still concentrating on my surroundings and the atmosphere it brings me.

5. Lush experience at Paragon

Smell good and feel good with Lush’s concept store in Paragon. The store has arm and scalp massages, facial demonstrations and workshops, where I enjoyed being able to sit, relax and slow down to receive personalised and customised care. Lush also has a perfumery discovery experience, where I discovered and customised my own personal scent, capturing the essence of what joy and escape through scent means for me. I enjoyed watching Lush’s in-house perfumers thoughtfully crafting each fragrance and bottling them up by hand, as it felt therapeutic to watch.

6. A refined escape in Bugis: Frasers House

Frasers House, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a recent addition to Marriott’s Singapore collection.
Book a Frasers House Signature Stay with a USD100 dining credit, welcome drink and choose between the privilege of early arrival, late departure or a room upgrade. I revelled in nostalgia with their Heritage Wing, having decor inspired by Singapore’s well-known shophouses and Peranakan heritage. Additionally, if you book on Saturday like I did, there is a free guided tour of Kampong Glam for more adventures and fun.

To continue the SG61 celebratory spirit, at LUCE, 61 cakes will be showcased from 1 to 10 Aug 2026 during lunch and dinner buffets. Italian treats will be blended with local flavours such as orh nee custard, Milo tiramisu and more. 7. Twilight Downtown (7 – 9 Aug)

Looking for a place to enjoy food and find your next fashion piece? Look no further than Twilight Downtown 2026, a halal food and flea market running from 7 to 9 Aug 2026. I am excited to savour their many halal dishes, desserts and snacks.

Some highlights for me include: COCO2GO, where I will definitely get their refreshing coconut shakes to cool myself down, as well as Krumbz N Kraves. I’m a squid lover, so I’ll be getting their crispy Argentina Squid to enjoy as a snack. Besides food, I’m looking forward to discovering their featured brands in person and bringing some thoughtfully curated pieces home or as gifts for friends.

8. Wild day out at Mandai Wildlife Reserve (8 Aug)

I’ve been to Mandai Wildlife Reserve many times for Mandai Zoo, but this year, I’m looking forward to heading down for their Wild Day Out event, co-organised with the Kranji Countryside Association (KCA). I’m excited to explore their public spaces, which will have a dazzling farmers’ market with produce grown in Singapore and get hands-on experience with workshops inspired by farming. I anticipate that I’ll be hungry after participating in all the workshops and prancing around, so I’ll also savour dishes from local dining brands at the event as well.

One workshop I’ll be sure to make a beeline for is the Egg-citing and Flightless Bird Discoveries Workshop by Uncle William Pte Ltd, where I’ll discover whether the chicken or egg came first – just kidding, I’ll discover more about egg incubation cycles and the many factors contributing to it. Another workshop I’m looking forward to trying out is ‘Microgreens Experience Workshop’ by Hydrogo Farm, where I’ll discover more about how microgreens make a macro impact on our world.

9. Orchard Road Fashion Week (12 – 16 Aug)

Orchard Road Fashion Week 2026 will showcase 41 upcoming designer and global labels which are bringing new ideas and fresh designs  to the Singapore fashion scene with 25 shows. It will be held at *SCAPE, at The Ground Theatre from 12 to 16 Aug 2026 and tickets start from S$38. I’m looking forward to the myriad of designers.

As someone who likes to support local, I am most excited to watch the designs from local fashion labels, including labels such as UNLYK (streetwear), KEYA STUDIO (ready-to-wear), SOENG SIGNATURE (ready-to-wear) and MONOLITH (experimental/conceptual). That doesn’t mean I won’t be excited to look at global fashion labels; I’m particularly keen to check out MILKWEAR, a Filipino streetwear label.

10. Snoopy Run 2026 (15 Aug)

If you’re a running enthusiast, congrats! If you’re a Snoopy enthusiast, congrats as well! JomRun is bringing Snoopy Run 2026 to Singapore on 15 Aug 2026. Tickets start from S$78.88 for 2km and S$88.88 for 4km runs.

As a beginner runner, I’m definitely opting for the 2km, and I’m most looking forward to completing my run, and of course, getting my medal after I complete the race. Gifts for runners are all official and mostly Snoopy Run-themed items, including: a jersey by Ultron®, finisher medal, race bib, eco bag, fridge magnet, A5 notebook, tattoo sticker, e-certificate and light refreshments to cool down with.

11. Singapore Night Festival 2026 (21 Aug – 5 Sep)

Singapore Night Festival 2026 runs from 21 Aug to 5 Sep 2026, with the theme Myths and Legends. I’ve enjoyed reading folklore from a young age, as I find the stories to be mystical and otherworldly; thus, I’m most excited to rediscover all the traditional stories and folklore which form the DNA of our Singaporean and Southeast Asian culture.

I’m also looking forward to the brand new museum zone across the National Museum of Singapore, the Children’s Museum Singapore and nearby heritage spaces. I’ll most definitely be exploring the wider Bras Basah.Bugis precinct to take a look at their projection mapping, artworks, experiential programmes and snapping some pictures as well. After all the wandering around, I’ll sit down for one of their many performances and relax at their festival villages with shopping and food available.

12. POP TOY show (21 – 23 Aug)

Whether you’re a collector (me, last time) or just an appreciator of POP MART (me now, I have no money), you’ll want to know that POP TOY SHOW (PTS) is returning from 21 to 23 Aug 2026. I’m buzzing with excitement thinking of all the adorable characters I’ll get to see, but most of all, I’m excited to see what exclusive event-only editions and special collaborative items will come out of this year’s POP TOY SHOW. Additionally, I know I’ll be in for a treat with the immersive displays and interactive activities during the event.

All these cute characters don’t just pop out of thin air; they’re created by hardworking artists and independent creators. I can’t wait to meet the people behind my favourite characters and learn about their journey as artists and how they created their signature characters, as well as their creative vision.

13. Gardens by the Bay: Lilytopia (21 Aug – 27 Sep)

If you love flowers, photography and a peaceful atmosphere as much as I do, head down to Gardens by the Bay’s Lilytopia exhibition. It will be held inside the Flower Dome, so admission fees to the Flower Dome apply as well. I’ll be sure to dress well as this exhibition will definitely have picture-perfect moments everywhere, with lilies, water lilies and lilies of the Nile in bloom.

This year’s theme will take you back to ancient Egyptian times as well, with a magnificent recreation of the Dendera Temple. There will also be hieroglyphic art and wonderful sculptures which will make me feel like the Pharaoh overlooking all my amazing treasures and flowers.

14. Concours d’Elegance 2026 (13 – 16 Aug)

I’ll be vroom-ing over to the Concours d’Elegance Singapore 2026 held at IMBA Theatre. It’s not every day that I can take a look at the world’s most extraordinary collector automobiles while immersing myself in the journeys behind them with the event’s exceptional storytelling.

I’m especially looking forward to the Grand Touring experience, where visitors get the rare chance to take a look at Concours competition automobiles, attend expert talks and seminars and hear their insights, as well as meet fellow car enthusiasts.

15. An Idiot’s Guide to Wine

Who doesn’t enjoy laughing over a good beverage, even better if the beverage is alcoholic? I know I do. An Idiot’s Guide to Wine, the smash-hit stand-up comedy experience, has finally arrived in our red dot. As a newbie (or idiot) to alcohol, ciders are my best friend, but I’ve been interested in the world of wine as well.

I’m excited for An Idiot’s Guide to Wine for an evening which blends hilarious stand-up comedy along with tasting of 6 specially selected wines. I’ll be looking forward to exploring the world of wine in a more relaxed setting, with the comedy aspect making it more approachable, fun and unique.
