Here’s a first look at what to order (and what to skip) at the annual food festival!

We kicked off our food journey with the Lobster Hokkien Mee ($20) at Good Old Days x Chef Mel Dean (Booth 9, Local Grill section).

The hokkien mee was the star of the show, with a subtle wok hei aroma that didn’t overpower the dish. While the lobster was slightly overcooked, it remained sweet and satisfying, making each bite enjoyable.

At the same stall, you’ll find other grilled Indonesian favourites, including the Ayam Bakar Cabe Ijo ($18). The portions were generous, featuring a tender chicken leg coated in a spicy green sambal, served with fragrant nasi, achar, and other sides. We found it well worth the $18 price tag.

Over at the same stretch, you’ll find South & East (Booth 2), which specialises in house-smoked meats. Highlights include the Signature Five Spice Smoked Short Ribs ($24 for 100g) and Satay Pork Ribs ($28 for three pieces), along with other smoky, flavour-packed dishes.

The Babi Guling Hot Dog ($19) was a standout, featuring a house-made sausage packed with spices. The sausage had a satisfying snap and flavourful meat, complemented by the crunch of pork cracklings for a textural contrast.

If you’re feeling the heat, head indoors to check out the International Grill section. New this year is Umi Matsuri (Booth 18), where fresh seafood is grilled over charcoal.

We tried the Tiger Prawns ($14.50 for three) with garlic butter sauce. Unfortunately, the prawns were overcooked, but the tamago chunk dipped into the umami-rich butter was a highlight.

The Salmon Head ($6 for half) fared better, with tender, fatty meat and nicely charred skin. The accompanying cili kicap sauce added a savoury kick that cut through the richness of the fish perfectly.

By this point, we were feeling thirsty, so we grabbed a Watermelon Sugar Cane ($9 for 1-litre) from Gyushi (Booth 23). It was the perfect refreshment on a hot evening—lightly sweet, fruity, and incredibly thirst-quenching.

Another new addition to this year’s GrillFest is I Love Sweet Potato (Booth 26) at Beachside Grill.

We got the Bobo Cha Cha Royale ($20), which features a roasted half sweet potato paired with coconut milk, yam boba, and MSW durian.

The durian paste was rich and thick, though it became a little overwhelming after a few bites, especially when combined with the dense sweet potato.

One of the biggest highlights is the debut of Chef’s Grill, an eight-course omakase-inspired dining experience held in an air-conditioned beachfront pavilion. Created in collaboration with the Singapore Chefs’ Association, the experience lets diners watch chefs showcase various live-fire cooking techniques up close.

Three mainstay vendors, namely Sentosa Golf Club, R&B Grill Bar, and ASAP & CO, will anchor the experience throughout the festival, while a rotating guest chef concept means the menu changes across different weekends.

Visitors can also check out the new Marketplace by Indoguna, where premium meats, seafood, vegetables, and gourmet ingredients can be selected and cooked to order on-site. There will also be a dedicated Sunset Lounge by Asahi with live music, DJ sets, and beachfront views for those looking to wind down by the sea.
