1. Bacha Coffee

Dining at Bacha Coffee will really make you feel like royalty. You get to sip coffee in a Moroccan-style coffee room, overlooking a display of beautifully-packaged coffee beans with attentive waiters at your service. They serve over 200 types of Arabica coffee beans from around the world. Also, there’s a selection of foods available to pair with your coffee, especially their signature croissants. Opt for favourites like their Raspberry and Candied Lemon Croissant ($10++) or even mains like their Wagyu Striploin Steak French Toast Sandwich ($34++).

2. 108 Matcha Saro

Fans of matcha will love the extensive range of matcha desserts at 108 Matcha Saro, which also has outlets in Suntec City and Changi Airport Terminal 3. Originating from Hokkaido, this premium matcha speciality shop uses its own Uji matcha powder sourced from Kyoto. They sell both hot and cold desserts, such as the Matcha Custard + Original Dough Obanyaki ($3.30) and Warabi Mochi Parfait ($8).

3. Hang Heung SG

For the lovers of traditional Chinese pastries, head to Hang Heung SG, a Hong Kong-based confectionery with over 120 years of history. Known for their wife cakes and Mid-Autumn mooncakes among others, their bakes are very reasonably priced, like the Mini Pineapple Wife Cake ($3.50) and Red Bean Paste Cake ($3.50). You don’t have to go all the way to Hong Kong, for here’s your chance to get a slice of Hong Kong in the comfort of our city!

4. Hoshino Coffee

Known for their souffle pancakes and French toast, Hoshino Coffee has slowly become a household name here. Enjoy delectable Japanese hotpot at Kyo Watami. The Mt. Fuji Hot Pot ($28.90++) is worth a try, with a neatly arranged pile of beef for you to cook in your pork bone soy sauce soup. As its name suggests, it is made to look like a mountain! They also have other interesting hotpot options such as Kimchi Hotpot (from $30.90++). Enjoy your luxurious afternoon high tea against the backdrop of a fancy Parisian tea room at TWG Tea. Widely known for its high-end selection of over 800 teas, TWG’s dine-in outlet here features all-day dining, with breakfast sets and desserts among others. Their high tea set menus are highly raved about, with the Chic Tea Set ($46++) and Parisian Tea Set ($92++) being popular. Expect a scrumptious mixture of finger sandwiches, scones, macarons, and croques from their high tea trolley. Each set serves two.

8. Plain Vanilla

Blink and you might miss Plain Vanilla’s quaint little cafe spot, hidden well inside the In Good Company clothing store. The cafe’s laid-back ambience makes it ideal for anyone to sip a cup of coffee in, with a daily assortment of tarts and sandwiches among others, to go with.  They also have Salted Caramel Cupcake (price TBD) and Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Tart (price TBD), which go well with their beverages including the Flat White ($5.80++) and Chai Tea Latte ($9++).

9. JUMBO Seafood

The gorgeous view of Orchard Road from JUMBO Seafood is an added bonus to their already extensive menu, which includes their signature seafood and a whole dim sum selection. Their Dim Sum Afternoon Tea Set ($59++ for two), available daily from 3pm to 4:45pm, is a refreshing TWG alternative you want to consider. Noteworthy dishes like Pan Fried JUMBO Chilli Crab Buns and Molten Salted Egg Lava Mochi are as eye-catching as they are tasty, all served with a choice between Oriental Beauty With Wolfberries or Springtime’s Blossoms Tea.

Kanshoku directly translates to finishing every bit of your food in Japanese, and this restaurant ensures we do that with their take on conventional ramen. Kanshoku Ramen Bar spearheaded the truffle ramen craze and have since expanded to include branches at Orchard Gateway and Northpoint City. Their Dry Truffle Ramen ($16.90++) and Truffle Broth Ramen ($17.90++) are extremely fragrant and a must-try. Don’t sleep on their sides like Black Truffle Edamame ($5.90++) and Grilled Miso Butter Corn ($4.90++) too!

11. Treasures Noodle and Congee House

Another of Imperial Treasure’s specialty restaurants happens to be Treasures Noodle and Congee House. For your quick fix of Chinese noodles, they have choices like Dry Shrimp Dumpling Noodles ($10.40++) or Twin Combination BBQ Meat Noodles ($14.50++) to fill you up. If not, their “Li Wan” Style Congee ($10.40++) or Sliced Angus Beef Twin Combination Congee ($16++) are lighter options.

They also offer dim sum, with their Three-Piece Baked Barbecue Pork Bun ($6.30++) and Three-Piece Pan-fried Carrot Cake ($6++) being some recommendations.

Another hot favourite here is the Beef Tenderloin Set ($31.80++), which comes with rice, chawanmushi, miso soup, salad, and pickles.

Homegrown patisserie Cafe Nesuto has an outlet in ION Orchard, and it’s where you can get their signature mains and cakes along with some exclusive creations unique to this outlet. From the signature mains, highlights include the Braised Miso Chicken Leg ($24++), served with creamy mashed potatoes, broccolini, genmai, and a miso sake cream sauce. Cakes, meanwhile, consist of the ever-popular Matcha Chestnut ($12.90++) and Chocolate Orange ($11.20++). Singapore’s first Prada Caffè offers a selection of cakes, chocolates, and pastries, all prepared by Marchesi 1824, a renowned pastry shop from Milan with 200 years of history. If you’re here for brunch, check out their savoury selection, with fancy options such as Lobster, Prawns, Lettuce, Boiled Egg, Mary Rose Sauce Toast ($42++), and Smoked Salmon and Avocado Crostone ($36): a modern interpretation of an Italian open-faced toast. For sweets, be sure to try their dainty cakes in flavours including Tiramisu ($24++), Hazelnut ($24++), and Pistachio ($24++).

Many of the picks on this list are rather pricey, and given that it’s ION Orchard, that’s no surprise. But there are a few affordable spots, such as Bao Bao. This kiosk offers handmade bao from as low as $1.20, with options such as Coffee Bao, Lotus Seed Bao, Bean Paste Bao, Longevity Peach Bao, and Rabbit Bao. There’s also the Roasted Char Siew Bao ($1.50), stuffed with a sweet, umami-rich char siew filling that kept us wanting more. Those who love yam desserts will be happy to know that there’s an Orh Nee Bao ($1.60), which stars a creamy taro paste spiked with fragrant shallot oil.
