Easy Chicken Crescent Ring

The creamy french onion dip, crispy fried onions, and gooey cheddar cheese melt together into a rich, savory filling that’s wrapped in buttery crescent rolls and baked until golden brown. Every bite has that cozy, familiar French onion flavor with a cheesy chicken twist. It’s the kind of dinner everyone goes back for seconds—and maybe sneaks one more piece straight from the pan.

How to Make French Onion Chicken Crescent Ring

Making this chicken crescent ring is surprisingly simple, and it looks impressive without a lot of extra work. Everything starts in one bowl—just stir together the cooked chicken, french onion dip, cheddar cheese, fried onions, onion powder and garlic powder.

Arrange the crescent roll dough triangles in a circle on a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Spoon the chicken mixture onto the inner edge, then fold each dough triangle up and over the top, tucking it underneath to hold everything in place. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown. Let the chicken ring rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into slices.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use rotisserie chicken? Yes! Rotisserie chicken works great and adds extra flavor while saving time.
    • Any leftover cooked chicken will work – chicken breasts or chicken thighs are delicious.
  • Look for refrigerated sour cream French Onion Dip. Look for Dean’s, Daisy, Great Value, or Helvua Good.
  • Can I add veggies? Definitely. Bell peppers, mushrooms, or even a handful of spinach can be mixed into the filling.
  • Do I need an egg wash? It’s optional, but brushing the dough with an egg wash gives it a deeper golden brown finish.

Storage Tips

  • Can I make this ahead of time? You can assemble the ring, cover it, and keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours before baking. Bake just before serving for the best texture.
  • How do I store leftovers? Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
  • Can I freeze it? Yes. Wrap slices in foil and place in a freezer bag. Thaw in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven for best results.
