Ingredient Notes
- Crust: Use your favorite crust or use our refrigerator pizza dough, easy pizza dough, or Italian-style pizza dough.
- Chicken Breast: Cut into bite-size pieces before adding the yogurt and spices.
- Greek Yogurt: The thickness makes an excellent base for marinades, but also has an acidity that tenderizes the chicken. Substitute with the same amount of sour cream or buttermilk (the tang of these is important). Plain yogurt is ok to use, but one of the others is preferable.
- Lemon Juice: Helps tenderize the chicken quickly.
- Cumin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Paprika: Add warm spices and flavors.
- Cayenne Pepper: A way to control the spice level. Our recipe is mild, but add a little more if you want more heat.
- Garam Masala: A spice blend you can find in most grocery store’s spice aisles. If you can’t find it, we have you covered with our blend of Garam Masala.
- Tomato Sauce: Sold in a can, feel free to choose a low-sodium option to lessen the salt content.
- Heavy Cream: Needed for the thickness.
- Cheese: Freshly shredded mozzarella for the perfect pizza.
- White Onion: A milder onion-y flavor than yellow onions, and holds up under the heat of cooking to maintain a subtle crunch.
- Cilantro: Compliments Tikka Masala, but you can use chopped parsley for those who don’t care for cilantro.
Doesn’t yogurt & lemon juice curdle?
Yes and no. Don’t stress any curdling in this recipe. Just follow the recipe and everything combined together will prevent any curdling.
Yogurt and lemon juice can curdle if combined and heated very rapidly at a very high heat, but we don’t do either of these in our recipe, so you’ll be totally fine. No curdling, just a mouthwateringly smooth flavor.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheat on the stovetop by placing a slice in a skillet on medium-low (no oil), cover with a lid or aluminum foil, and wait until the cheese is freshly melted.
Reheat in the air fryer by placing a slice in the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 350 degrees and air fry 2 minutes.
