How to Make Chick-fil-A Sauce Chicken Marinade
This marinade is effortless to make with only a few simple ingredients. Place chicken breast in a large freezer bag and gently pound to an even thickness with a meat mallet. Whisk together Chick-fil-A sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl.
Pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal tightly and store in the fridge for 4-24 hours. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill/cook until the marinated chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions
- You can use this marinade on any cut of chicken– breasts, chicken tenders, boneless skinless chicken thighs, chicken wings, or drumsticks/legs.
- You can use boneless or bone-in chicken. Adjust the cooking time to ensure an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- I suggest pounding the chicken breast to an even thickness. We put the chicken in a ziplock bag and use a flat meat mallet to pound out the hump carefully. This ensures that the chicken cooks evenly, and you don’t have juicy chicken and half-dry chicken.
- We prefer to let the chicken marinate as long as possible before cooking for maximum flavor.
- I don’t have a grill. Can I cook the chicken in the oven or skillet? Yes! Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to cook the chicken breasts inside. Pan-sear the chicken for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little kick!
- If you don’t have Worcestershire sauce on hand, you can substitute soy sauce.
Storage Tips
- Can I freeze Chick-fil-A Sauce Marinade? Yes. You can place the chicken in the marinade and store in the freezer for up to four months. When ready to cook, thaw the chicken overnight in the refrigerator and cook as directed.
- Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Reheat in the microwave.
- Leftovers are great in a rice bowl, salad, or tortilla wrap.

What to Serve with Grilled Chicken
Chick-fil-A Sauce Chicken is bursting with flavor, so pairing it with simple, classic sides is the way to go.
- Think waffle fries or roasted potatoes for that drive-thru feel at home, or keep it lighter with a side of coleslaw or a crisp garden salad.
- Grilled corn on the cob or green beans add a fresh, summery touch that complements the sweet and smoky chicken.
- If you’re going for more of a backyard BBQ vibe, baked beans or mac and cheese are always a hit.
- And don’t forget some extra Chick-fil-A sauce on the side—because there’s no such thing as too much!
