Although they say that money can’t make you as hot as Harry Styles, it can still buy you some good sushi—I know that might sound like a long shot, but well, it’s better than nothing.
In Singapore, whether you’re in the mood for creamy mayo-filled warship sushi or fresh sashimi-topped bites, there are plenty of affordable options to choose from. Here are 10 cheap sushi places where you can satisfy your sushi cravings without breaking the bank, with prices starting from $1.50 per plate.
1. Sushi-GO
For a unique dining experience, head over to Sushi-GO, where your sushi is delivered to you via mini Shinkansen bullet trains. With over 100 items on their menu, including a seasonal selection of specials, you’ll be spoilt for choice. 5. iSUSHI
Yishun sushi fans, this one’s for you. At iSUSHI at Junction Nine, almost everything on the menu is priced at $2+ per piece, including some options you’d normally only find at pricier spots. We recommend getting the Uni Ikura Gunkan, which features salmon roe and sea urchin, as well as the Salmon Lobster Hana that’s topped with shreds of lobster bound together with salmon and mayo. Even the Unagi and Scallop sushi are on the same $2+ menu!

The iconic green frog in Sakae Sushi‘s logo is instantly recognisable. Here at Sakae Sushi, sushi is priced anywhere from $3.40++ for two pieces of Salmon, to $4.40++ for an Unagi Tamago Nigiri. Their gunkan sushi is also relatively affordable, where you’ll get two pieces of Ebiko Gunkan, Chuka Hotate Gunkan, or Tuna Mayo Gunkan for just $3.30++.

7. Sushidan
If you thought omakase and “cheap” couldn’t exist in the same sentence, Sushidan at Raffles City might change your mind. The Tokyo-famous sushiya offers a Five-Course Omakase from just $19.90++, with individual sushi pieces starting from $1.99++. Highlights from the omakase include the Akami-zuke, a lean red tuna, and the silky Hamachi. All the seafood is flown in daily from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market, so freshness is well taken care of.

Haku Sushi‘s Rolling Omakase Lunch is another affordable omakase to bookmark, as their five-course lunch starts from just $19++. The more you eat, the more you save too—a rolling discount is applied with each round, bringing prices down to $18++ and $17++ for subsequent orders. Highlights include the Chuturo Nigiri, featuring a thick slice of fatty tuna over vinegared rice, the Hako with sweet-savoury unagi and plump shrimp wrapped in nori. Each round also comes with at least one seasonal highlight, such as uni or Hokkaido scallops, so there’s always something to look forward to.

The Don Don Donki empire is rapidly expanding in Singapore, and it looks like the ‘Don Don Don, Donki’ jingle is going to permanently live in my head. If you haven’t heard yet, their Jurong Point outlet features a made–to–order sushi kiosk called Sen Sen Sushi. Here, they use a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood, including fresh uni. Some of their popular nigiri items include Japanese Horse Mackerel ($3.80), Fresh Salmon ($2.80), and Tuna Tartare ($3.50). All of their sushi is prepared to order, so you can enjoy it at its freshest.

CBD workers, you’ve got a new lunch spot to add to the rotation. Onori at Far East Square serves up Japanese handrolls from just $3.50+, with premium ingredients including uni, unagi, and snow crab that punch well above the price point. You can order them a la carte or go for a set of three at $11.90+. The Unagi Kabayaki ($5.50+) is a good starting point, featuring sweet-savoury grilled unagi wrapped in Japanese nori and finished with toasted sesame seeds.
