Happy New Year! I hope you are excited about 2025 and have managed to take a break over the season to recharge your batteries. As is tradition, I round up my TOP 12 recipes for the year. These are the ones I will make again and again; they are foolproof and delicious. It’s always quite difficult to narrow it down to 12. Since I cook and bake across the spectrum there is a bit of everything. Thank you for visiting my corner of the internet. Be sure to subscribe to my bi-monthly newsletter to get all updates and food news.

My top 12 recipes for 2024
Asian-style lamb shanks made in an Instant Pot
I made my Asian lamb shanks in an Instant Pot with great success, cutting a good few hours off the cooking time.
Buttermilk rusks in an Air Fryer
I perfected my buttermilk rusks and cracked the code on how to give them the distinctive ‘Ouma Rusk’ flavour that South Africans know and love. For the oven version, check out my classic South African Buttermilk rusks.
Easy Ham & Cheese Croissant Bake
I simply love ham & cheese croissants so turning them into a breakfast casserole that works just as well for brunch, lunch or supper was marvelous. I loved how fluffy and delicious this was. I would probably leave off the leek layer going forward to make it easier.
The Best Chocolate Malva Pudding
I adapted the best malva pudding I know and turned it into the best chocolate malva pudding. This is hands down one of the best desserts I have ever made.
Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad With Grilled Chicken
I make this salad on repeat in my house because it’s a perfectly balanced meal that is low in fat and contains loads of crunchy raw vegetables and lean protein. I adore the dressing, which has no oil, and I use a sugar substitute. I mostly use leftover rotisserie chicken that I often have on hand.
Pan-seared, Butter-Basted Ribeye Steak
I used the best quality aged ribeye to make this recipe on a stove top and in a pan. The herb and garlic-infused butter gives the meat incredible flavour. The delicious umami-laden café de Paris-style butter poured over the cooked steak takes it to another level
Roast Smashed Potatoes With Brown Butter Sage
I wanted a very delicious potato dish to pair with the steak and these roasted smashed potatoes with brown butter sage were perfect.
Viral Dubai Knafeh Pistachio Chocolate Bar
I made every element of this chocolate bar from scratch without having tasted the original Fix chocolate bar from Dubai. I recently tasted the original chocolate and realised that I did a great job. Perhaps mine was even better. It’s definitely as good and was quite a bit bigger. Inspired by this project, am hoping to make a few more chocolate bars this year. I also LOVED the croissant I made with pistachio and kataifi pastry.
The Best Apple And Berry Crumble
I added mixed berries to my favourite apple crumble recipe and I think this is my best version of apple crumble yet. A buttery crumble topped with loads of crunchy almonds gives this dessert so much delicious texture. I love to serve it with vanilla ice cream or homemade creme anglaise.
A Delicious Peach Crumble With Cinnamon
This is part cobbler and part crumble but the first time I have made one with peaches and it was perfection. I developed another variation of this last year which I will make and share soon. Its even better than this.
No-Knead Focaccia Shallot Pissaladière
Pissaladière which hails from Provence is one of my all-time favourite snacks. Here I took the classic topping and put it on an easy no-knead foccacia bread. Too delicious!
Pan-Fried Mushrooms With Miso And Egg Yolk
This was one of two of my favourite egg recipes I made in 2024. My pan con tomate with fried eggs seemed too simple to share but sometimes it’s the very basic recipes that change your life. Both of these were inspired by my trip to Spain in 2023 and I am constantly craving these flavours.
The BEST Air Fryer green beans recipe
I have put this as an extra recipe because it’s a game-changer when it comes to eating green beans. I can eat a whole bag of beans when they are cooked this way. Nutritional yeast gives them so much umami I often skip the Parmesan part.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you will love my recipes in 2025. Please let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see more of.
