When it comes to decorating cakes and cupcakes, especially for theme based, most of the bakeries use fondant. It is used to create the design and a polished look will be made. Difference Between Marshmallow Fondant and Regular Fondant?
Regular fondant is made with liquid glucose, gelatin, icing sugar, glycerine and water. It takes more time to start from scratch and also the ingredients are quite hard to find, plus they will be quite expensive.
Whereas with marshmallow fondant is a simple version that gives you the same texture as regular fondant. As the marshmallow is already made with the main ingredients of fondant like liquid glucose, gelatin and icing sugar. So, the process of making marshmallow fondant becomes super easy and budget friendly.
Once the marshmallows are melted, transfer them to a bowl. Start adding icing sugar a little at a time, don’t add all at once. Be patient and take your time with this step. Knead the dough for at least 15 to 20 minutes until it becomes soft, smooth and non sticky. I have used pink marshmallows. So it is already coloured. If you’re using white marshmallow, you can add any food color of your choice while melting the marshmallow.
Ingredients

Confectioners sugar / Icing sugar : Icing sugar is nothing but powdered sugar, used to thicken the melted marshmallow and roll it into a dough. It helps to make a non sticky, soft and smooth dough.
Marshmallows : Marshmallows are the base of this quick fondant recipe. As they already contain sugar, gelatin, it is easy to melt them and creates a stretchy base that will be easy to work with.
Water : A small amount of water is used to melt the marshmallows
Oil : Oil is used to grease the hand while kneading the dough. It prevents the fondant from sticking to the hand and surface.
