This seems to be a big week for K-pop fans! BTS just announced their comeback world tour earlier this week, with 4 days in Singapore. And just a day later, BLACKPINK also dropped an announcement about a new mini-album they will release on 27 Feb.
Different editions available
This announcement for BLACKPINK’s comeback and 3rd Mini Album, ‘Deadline’, was made across their social media channels with a short 19-second video teaser. Concept images for the album were also posted, showing multiple physical versions that will be available. One version even has an Hourglass Mood Lamp. At the time of writing, no details about the album’s tracklist have been released.
A Mini Album after 3 years
‘Deadline’ will mark BLACKPINK’s first album release after more than 3 years, with their last one being 2022’s ‘Born Pink’. With that said, it’s not that BLACKPINK has been on a break either. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa have all been busy with their Deadline World Tour since July last year, performing at concerts around the world. The group also released a new single, ‘JUMP’, at the start of the tour.
Every BLACKPINK member has also expanded their solo careers in the last few years, with each of them releasing their own albums and songs. Rosé’s ‘APT.’, featuring Bruno Mars, and Jennie’s ‘like JENNIE’, are just some of their solo projects that have topped charts and gone viral. Â
With the release of ‘Deadline’ just a month away, BLINKs are eager to dive into new songs featuring all 4 girls again. However, online discussions and comments show that there are also mixed responses. With ‘Deadline’ being a mini-album instead of a full-length album, some have expressed disappointment in the limited number of new songs.
This is understandable, considering that fans have been waiting for almost 4 years for a new album release from them At the same time, 2026 marks BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary as a group, so many BLINKs are expecting a bigger comeback than ever.
Still, the year has just started and the group could reveal more surprises closer to their actual debut anniversary. Until then, BLINKs can look forward to ‘Deadline’ and its tracklist.Â
