Ingredients

  • 24 3×3-inch wonton wrappers
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples peeled, cored and cut into ¼-½-inch cubes
  • 4 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 5 Tbsp. water divided
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • Neutral oil for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly brush muffin pan wells with neutral oil.
  • Place 2 wonton wrappers in each muffin pan well, overlapping and pressing against sides to form a cup. Brush inside of wonton wrappers with neutral oil.
  • Bake about 15 minutes or until edges of cups are golden brown and wontons are cooked through.
  • In large saucepan over medium heat, melt salted butter. Add apples, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract; mix well and add 3 tablespoons water. Cook about 10 minutes or until apples are at your desired softness.
  • In small bowl, mix remaining 2 tablespoons water with cornstarch and add to apple mixture. Stir to thicken the filling.
  • Remove wontons from oven and spoon apple filling into each cup.
  • When cool enough to handle, remove cups from pan and serve warm as is or topped with a dollop of whipped cream, a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel.
