Singapore’s social clubs are more than just places to meet people; many, such as The American Club, have a long history and rich heritage. Then, there are newer spaces such as The Nanson, which offer a modern wellness-centred experience apart from networking opportunities.
If you’re looking to become the social butterfly you’ve always wanted to be, here are the best social clubs in Singapore. Whether you enjoy attending social events, playing sports, or simply meeting new people, there’s a club to suit your interests on this list.
How I chose these best social clubs
These are the 3 main criteria I used to decide which social clubs to recommend:
- Variety: The list includes traditional social and sporting clubs as well as modern private members’ clubs.
- Wide range of interests: From sports to dining to wine, these clubs offer different experiences.
- Community: These clubs boast a strong community, where you can bond with others over shared interests, organised activities and member gatherings.
This isn’t a ranked best-to-worst list, but a collection of the best social clubs overall, in no particular order. Do note that since these are private clubs, you should check their current membership terms and policies; some may require referrals. It is also best to enquire with them directly about membership fees and applications.

1. The American Club
Located at Claymore Hill near Orchard Road, The American Club is a private members’ club that combines almost everything you could ever wish for under one roof. Dining, fitness, leisure and family activities? They’ve got it all. Founded in 1948, it boasts 77 years of heritage, community and connection with generations of members. To date, there are 11,000+ members, 90+ nationalities and 25 committees at The American Club.

Members can access various dining concepts depending on their needs. If you’re looking for something more laid-back, Central is a cafe with coffee, sandwiches and more. For something more upscale, The 2nd Floor is your best choice, featuring casual premium fine dining. Besides food, the club also offers fitness and wellness experiences. You can enjoy a multitude of sports such as Pilates, golf, swimming and squash. 2. The British Club

Want to feel as if you’re on a getaway to a secret island? The British Club is Singapore’s only Hilltop Retreat, surrounded by lush greenery. Situated in the Bukit Timah area, the club is secluded and tucked away, providing a quieter setting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This unique club covers more than 5,900 square metres and has members of more than 50 nationalities.

The club houses a wide variety of facilities to enjoy: 4 restaurants, 7 banquet venues, along with a range of sports and activities. Their main highlight for me has to be their 3 swimming pools; imagine relaxing in the water whilst surrounded by all the greenery. It’s a tropical resort vacation, except you’re still in Singapore. There are 3 swimming pools for you to channel your inner Michael Phelps: a 25M main pool, a 20M lap pool and a children’s pool.

If fitness isn’t your thing (me too), there are co-working spaces, event spaces and meeting venues, which serve as the perfect ground for you to connect with the other members. Besides activities, you can also enjoy poolside dining at the Club restaurant, Bistro 1908. Of course, the little ones aren’t left out; they can enjoy craft activities at the Kids’ Club or splash around in the Toddler Pool.

is located within InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay and focuses more on hospitality, culture and wellness over sports. The Nanson aims to provide a platform for people who enjoy exchanging ideas and building meaningful relationships, including entrepreneurs, founders, artists and other curious minds.

The main feature of The Nanson is how versatile the space is. It’s designed to allow members to move between different activities in appropriate spaces according to their needs. For example, they can use the Zendō workspace and coworking space to focus on work, then use the Sloan Spa to reset between meetings. It’s never mundane here; as a member, you’ll be able to attend curated sessions, such as cultural events and dining experiences. Everything in The Nanson has been intentionally selected to cater to the needs of its members, providing attentive service and care. 7. Mandala Club

Mandala Club was established in 2021, making it one of the newer social clubs in Singapore. It is situated within a heritage shophouse at Bukit Pasoh with a charming white facade. The club places a heavy emphasis on quality over quantity, with 6 core values reflecting its priorities. They uphold their values through the facilities available and events they hold. They proudly state they “don’t do meeting rooms, conferences, or banquet halls”. Their community spaces are more intimate; rather than coworking spaces or meeting rooms, you can anticipate something more personal. Their spaces consist of carefully curated places such as parlours, bars and restaurants. Plus, their spaces are designed in a way that evokes meaningful connections that the members cherish. The club also holds events that encourage collaborative social interaction, such as book clubs, quiz nights and workshops.

9. Singapore Recreation Club

Overlooking the north end of the Padang, Singapore Recreation Club was founded by members of the Eurasian community in 1883, making it one of the oldest social clubs in Singapore . Despite having since expanded to offer various social activities, its roots as a men’s sports club remain strong, along with other contemporary activities. Their sports facilities include an aerobics area and gymnasium, both of which have trained instructors on-site for any guidance you may need. For even more sports, head to their courtyard; it has a futsal court, a tennis court, and a versatile multi-purpose court adaptable for pickleball, softball, and more.

If you prefer to chill and relax, there are dining and social spaces where members can meet friends, organise gatherings or even take part in club events. Sports aren’t your thing? Why not head to the Cards & Mahjong Room for a thrilling break away from screens. Enjoy great tipples at Barker’s, which has stunning views of the city skyline and the Padang too.
