Ditch the ranch dressing! This is the creamiest garlic herb veggie dip and it’s perfect for parties and gatherings! This vegetable dip is WAY better than any store-bought dip!
This homemade veggie dip is creamy, flavorful, and packed with a blend of dried and fresh herbs. It comes together in minutes and is made with simple ingredients like mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic, and fresh herbs, this dip is perfectly balanced.
Ranch is what eventually convinced me as an incredibly picky child to like salad. I would put a little ranch dressing on a plate and dip my croutons in it, as in literally no salad, just bread and ranch, but the love affair continues to this day!
While I have embraced salad, all kinds of veggies are really amazing, and creamy ranch dip remains my heart’s favorite thing ever, this garlic herb dip blows every ranch dressing out of the water!
Ingredients You’ll Need…
Head to the produce section and grab all the vegetables you need for dipping. These are the rest of the ingredients you will need:
- Mayonnaise: The creamy base that makes this dip rich, smooth, and totally irresistible.
- Sour Cream: Adds a subtle tang and lightens things up just enough for the perfect balance.
- Dried Parsley: Brings a mild, earthy flavor and a little pop of bright herbiness.
- Dried Tarragon: Slightly sweet herb with a hint of anise, this gives the dip that “what is that amazing flavor?” moment.
- Fresh Dill: Bright, fresh, and unmistakably herby that makes the dip taste fresh instead of flat.
- Fresh Basil: Adds a soft, slightly sweet herb flavor that pairs beautifully with the garlic and dill.
- Garlic Powder: Gives you that bold garlic flavor without overpowering the dip.
- Onion Powder: Adds depth and savory flavor that keeps every bite interesting.
- Smoked Paprika: Just a touch for warmth and subtle smokiness.
- Salt and Pepper: Simple but essential for bringing all those flavors together.
- Veggies: The means for getting this outrageous dip into your mouth! Use whatever vegetables are your favorite.

What is Veggie Dip Made of?
Vegetable dip can be made with a number of ingredients. Usually you’ll see them made with mayonnaise, sour cream, or Greek yogurt. In fact, it can even be a combination of multiple items. Our veggie dip recipe uses a mixture of mayo and sour cream to keep it extra creamy.
Can I Use Dried Herbs for Vegetable Dip?
I LOVE the flavor of fresh herbs, and tend to stick with fresh for this recipe except for tarragon which is hit or miss to find in the store.
To use dried herbs, use about half of the amount of the fresh. Conversely, to use fresh instead of dried it’s about double the amount. Fresh chives make a great addition instead of the onion powder too!
Can I Make it Healthier?
Absolutely! You can swap out the sour cream for greek yogurt. Just make sure you sample it to test out if the flavor matches your needs since yogurt is more tangy than sour cream.

How to Make Veggie Dip
Nothing fancy here! Once you have all the fresh herbs chopped, combine all the ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
You can serve the dip right away, but I like it even more if it can sit for an hour or so in the fridge for the flavors to meld together.
What Can I Serve Veggie Dip With?
Most people serve veggie dip with a variety of fresh vegetables.
My personal favorites are:
- Baby carrots
- Grape tomatoes
- Cauliflower
- Broccoli
- Sugar Snap peas
- Cucumbers
- Celery sticks
- Olives

Carrian’s Tip

While it’s so fresh and delicious to use vegetables, don’t stop there! Chips, like Kettle chips, potato chips and crackers are absolutely unreal!!
We use it as a spread on our favorite ham and cheese sandwich. And now that I say it, I bet it would be fabulous for dipping hot, salty fries in! Life goals!
How Long Does Vegetable Dip Stay Fresh?
The best part about this veggie dip is that it gets better with time! Keep it refrigerated in an airtight container and it will last for about 7 days.

Whether you’re prepping for a party, putting together a snack board, or just trying to make everyday veggies a little more exciting, this easy veggie tray dip delivers every time. Keep it chilled until serving, and don’t be surprised when guests ask for the recipe!
