Families with children can have a whale of a time at JEM‘s honeycomb-themed playground on Level 5. Kids can climb through a canopy, crawl over nests and hammocks, and more.

Another feature of the playground is hexagonal rubber trampolines set into the ground. They provide kids with a way to bounce about and expend energy by catching “airtime”.

The playground also has a tunnel for little ones to scramble. Here, they can imagine they are small creatures burrowing through the ground. There are also play panels to interact with along the glass wall of the food court. If you missed the charming mudskipper water play structures at the old playground, these can be found 1 floor above the present area.

The play area’s centrepiece is a treehouse structure that offers a variety of play options, including slides and climbing structures interconnected by rope bridges. The area is further augmented with trampolines, carousels, spinners, and agility structures. Inspired by the marine theme, units are modular to facilitate installation.

Located beside the playground is a play area with miniature hurdles. These include green blocks for your children to navigate while clinging to the protruding handholds. There are also suspended obstacles that your little ones can climb through to test their coordination and resoluteness. It also has a rope bridge hung at a low level to encourage kids to use it.

One of its main attractions is the Foggy Bowls. Let your little one slip in among wisps of cloud and hide in bowls of mist. Kids will relish the chance to explore this dreamy setting.

Another key highlight of the indoor playground is the Discovery Slides, which is designed after a gemstone. It contains parts (the slides, stairs and rope climbs) that are carved out, revealing the shimmering interior of the gem. In this sense, the playground presents itself in its duality, a diamond tucked on the topmost floor of Jewel with a slide concealed within.

A standard ticket to Canopy Park at Jewel will cost you S$6 if you are a Singapore resident.

Upon closer inspection, a huge climbing net connects the orange towers, creating a unified play structure. The playground’s interlinked design has its roots in the natural structure of the Banyan tree, which features a large aerial root system stretching across several trees.

The enclosed net structure allows your little one to safely traverse across the length of the playground. By suspending the net canopy, the designers created an elevated walkway for your little one to indulge in sensory play that stimulates navigation and promotes curiosity.

Children can access the climbing net canopy through the 2 tree towers at each end. On one end, the hammock swings provide a tricky ascent that tests your balance. On the other, a rubber climbing surface challenges children to scale a vertical wall with multiple openings.

Best for: Open-access climbing play in a city precinct

By shifting play upward, the playground challenges children’s motor and strategy skills by making them think about how to surmount what seems to be innocuous ramps and gaps.

This is because your child needs to figure out how to connect between the levels and how to get to where they want to go to. This playground isn’t too high so it’s not too daunting, perfect for 4 to 6 year olds to explore while still being challenging enough for older kids.

For the younger ones, right beside the vertical playground is a shaded play area with in-floor trampolines, rockers and a seesaw, making it the ideal place to dispense post-meal energy.

And of course, there are the typical water buckets, fountains, water spouts and playground structures. The area is bright and roomy with seats at the side for adults to supervise kids.

The water playground is for children aged 5 to 12 years old. There’s also a dry version beside the water playground which is designed for children aged 2 to 5 years old. Note that children need to be accompanied by adults. Children can wear T-shirts, shorts or swimwear at the water playground. Do also slap on sunblock as it is an unsheltered space.
