Bring Back The Old Days
Every once in a while, I get really nostalgic.
Peanut butter versions became especially popular in the 1960s and 1970s when no-bake desserts and lunchbox-friendly sweets were in high demand.
Churches, school bake sales, potlucks, and family gatherings often featured these bars because they were inexpensive, easy to transport, and universally loved..
This is a fond memory that reminds me of my Mom making them for me to take to school lunches.

Peanut Butter Treat Tips
- Low heat is key. High heat makes marshmallows tough.
- Don’t overcook. Melt just until smooth, remove immediately.
- Don’t over-press the mixture. Press gently into the pan.
- Use fresh marshmallows. Stale ones make hard bars.
- Avoid natural peanut butter. The oil separation can change the texture.
- Store airtight at room temperature.
- Do not refrigerate, cold makes them firm.
