Afternoon tea usually comes with a high price tag, so we were pleasantly surprised after finding out that Princess Terrace has a value-for-money Nonya High Tea at just $14++ per person, with a minimum of two diners required. The hidden gem Peranakan restaurant is located on the ground floor of Copthorne King’s Hotel, a convenient five-minute walk from Havelock MRT Station.

Available every day, from 3pm to 5pm, the high tea comes with handmade Nyonya kueh, assorted sandwiches, mini egg tarts, popiah, and nasi lemak, along with two hot desserts: Homemade Beancurd with Gula Melaka and a surprise Dessert of the Day. To round off the experience, cleanse your palate with some kombucha and pinkies up with a selection of coffee or tea—these drinks are included in the set, too!

Here’s another pro tip: for a limited time, visit in a group of four and pay for three people only. This means the high tea costs just $10.50++ per person—an absolute steal in this economy.

While the menu might change depending on the season, you can expect to sample around nine items. Anti:dote is known best for being a cocktail bar, but the lounge also offers seasonal afternoon teas. Typically, a set comes with sandwiches, a medley of sweet entremets, and scones served with lemon butter curd, Devonshire clotted cream, and strawberry marmalade, as well as your choice of tea from their lengthy selection. Many of the teas are from TWG, and range from light, floral brews, to punchier, dark teas.

Their regular high tea, available from now till 8 December 2024, is priced at $68++ per person. If you’re visiting from 9 December to 31 December 2024, they’ve got a festive afternoon tea at $78++ per person instead.

For savouries, there are four items you can dig into, including Crab Rangoon and Smoked Salmon Bruschetta.

With an ever-changing menu that often comprises themed collabs with other brands, high tea at Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s 1864 is anything but boring. From now till 31 December 2024, the hotel is serving their Festive Afternoon Tea, priced at $128++ for two.

Start off with some savoury bites such as Japanese Pumpkin Eclair and Boston Lobster Sandwich with Fish Roe, then move to the sweets, which are the highlights. Tuck into Christmas-inspired treats including Mini Yuzu White Log Cake and Lemon Meringue Tart Christmas Tree, before you move on to the unique cognac-infused scones.
