When it comes to tacos, I’m generally a soft taco kind of a girl. For these easy chicken tacos, I cooked tender chicken strips in taco seasoning. Wrapped in flour tortillas, these soft chicken tacos are loaded with flavor and perfect for taco Tuesday.
I love ground or shredded chicken, but these hearty strips of chicken breast make these tacos feel so substantial. I love that it only takes 10 minutes to prep these tacos and 10 minutes to cook them, too. Perfect for when I need to get dinner on the table in a hurry.
What’s in This Soft Chicken Taco Recipe?
- Chicken: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into strips keep these tacos simple to make. Thighs also work, or make things even easier and use shredded rotisserie chicken from the store!
- Taco Seasoning: Adds classic taco flavor and keeps things easy.
- Tortillas: I like soft flour tortillas, but corn also work.
- Toppings: I kept things simple with fresh cilantro, sliced jalapeños, and diced tomatoes, but any favorite taco toppings work great!

How to Store and Reheat
These chicken tacos are best served as soon as they are made. Any leftover chicken can be kept covered in the fridge for up to 3 days and makes a great addition to a salad the next day!
Notes and Tips
- To make the tacos spicier, add hot sauce, sliced jalapeños, or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chicken.
- Warm the tortillas before adding the chicken so that they are soft and pliable.
- If you prefer hard taco shells, you can use those instead.
- To keep tortillas warm, wrap them in a clean kitchen towel or aluminum foil and place them in a low oven (around 200°F) until ready to serve.
