Everyday baking is my FAVORITE cooking show on television these days. Please John, do some more episodes. I still enjoy watching your show and have all the recipes and have tried MANY of them so I need some new recipes. I just think the way he teaches is great and I use many of the hints he gives.

I would love to have a recipe that is comparable to Krusteze Pancake mix. Anyone out there have one of these?

this won’t replace Bisquick because it has not fat in it. Try this: 8 1/2 cups flour, 4 tbs baking powder, 1 tbs salt 2 tsp cream of tartar, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 1/2 cups instant nonfat dry milk or dry buttermilk powder, 2 1/4 cups shortening. Mix all dry ingredients together then cut in the shortening for coarse crumbs. Store airtight for about 3 months. Makes about 13 cups and substitutes perfectly for Bisquick.

All the teenagers that eat at my house LOVE these bars. The pancakes recipe really is a sweet dessert version, BUT you could reduce the sugar in the mix and add it back into specific recipes (or not). I haven’t tried the clafouti recipe yet but I plan to…I too would like to see more recipe ideas for this mix. Muffins, cupcakes, and waffles come to mind.

Where is the recipe for the custardy cake?

try mixing fresh or frozen blueberries with a small amount of water ( a tbsp or two) with a minimal amount of sugar. Just enough to make a syrup/sauce. Heat and stir until sugar is melted. We also make our own whipped cream using heavy whipping cream, and i only put just enough sugar to slightly sweeten the cream (the container calls for 2 tbsp, but i use like 1teaspoon). The tartness of the berries and the lightly sweetened whipped cream are a perfect addition to these sweet hot cakes.

I have tried this and so far the two recipes we’ve made from the mix have been great! My family really loved the blondies (try adding a tsp of cinnamon – yum!). I also whipped up a batch of pancakes using this mix for a quick meal. They were a bit too sweet for just everyday-type pancakes, but they worked out well for us (sweet = less maple syrup).
I would like to see a few more recipes to make with this mix.

did you ever try this with Splenda? I’m wondering, too, if it would work in the baking mix.

Has anyone tried this with Splenda instead of regular sugar? i plan on attempting it, i just wondered if anyone else had already done it, and how it turned out?
